Fundraiser for Kate McRae

A few weeks ago I took a trek out to the Cibola Vista Resort to help celebrate Becca's 30th Birthday (she's one of my closest friends) and I had the pleasure of meeting some of the gals from the different areas of her life. It was a really neat experience to get to see how we all knew Becca, whether it be church, work, through the kids, school- you get the picture.

Becca's birthday was in April, but we celebrated in July. Why you ask? Because on Becca's birthday, she was having a flair up with her Crohn's Disease and had just gotten back from a trip to CA to meet with a doctor regarding a new treatment. I'm sure I can speak for all of her friends from all of her "different circles" that we all felt helpless and were praying like crazy for her health, for healing and for answers.

I'm sure you've been there before too, with someone that you were close to, praying for health, healing and answers. Well, when we were at the pool celebrating Becca, a conversation came up just about that same thing, but concerning a little girl.  I didn't catch most of it because I was sitting too far away from Amy who was talking about it, but none the less could tell that something was really upsetting. So, what's a girl to do in that situation? Check her Facebook Page the next day of course!

What I learned that day absolutely broke my heart. Again, another situation where you pray for health, healing and for answers. I learned about beautiful blonde haired and blue eyed, perfect little Kate McRae. Just by looking at her you knew that she held  the heart of her family in her smile! On her Caring Bridge Website, www.prayforkate.com I read journal entry after journal entry from her family telling the story of what happened that got her to Phoenix Children's Hospital and what they have endured since the end of June. My heart broke and again I felt helpless. I prayed. I prayed hard. I prayed for health, healing and for understanding.

Days went by and I continued to pray. After the 4th day of continued prayer, the Lord spoke to me and I no longer felt helpless, but empowered to do something small that might help make a little bit of money to donate towards the family to help with hospital bills, but more importantly get the word out about Kate and encourage people to "Pray for Kate".

With my new friend Amy's help as family liaison, I was able to get the blessing of Kate's mom to do a fundraiser for Kate. Knowing that she likes pink, polka dots, princesses and butterflies (thanks to Kate's Aunt!), I was able to put together 2 beautiful tutus for Kate; The Princess Kate Tutu and Kate's Butterfly Tutu. The tutus come in 4 different sizes and can also be made in a custom size. 100% of the profits of each sale go directly to the McRae Family.

Please take some time out of your day and visit Kate's webpage www.prayforkate.com and join in our efforts to lift her up in prayer.
